Time to Say See You Later

All good things must come to an end, even our sun, sand, water vacation in the Keys. So we headed up to Miami, where Lukas and Noah swiftly offloaded mine and Bob's bags before they headed west towards home. A final summer adventure for two brothers before school starts again.

Pool Time

We spent leisurely afternoons by the pool, lounging, swimming, reading, napping, and hanging out with the local animals. Apparently, we were too busy relaxing to capture these moments in detail.

African Queen

The boys have vague memories of watching the African Queen movie and seeing the boat, so this was a deja vu moment. Part of movie history right outside our hotel room door.

Sunsets

The Florida sunsets are spectacular. All four of us pulled out the phones to capture the colors.

Food

Mealtimes took many shapes while in Key Largo. Breakfast and lunch in the room allowed for more time in the sun and ocean; dinners while watching sunsets sipping fruity drinks, and of course, the too tired to go anywhere meals fashioned from random grocery finds.

Flowers

After a day exploring the ocean with its explosion of color, the flowers seemed rather pedestrian yet too pretty to ignore.

Scuba Time

The day's first activity was a refresher in the pool, and then it was off to the ocean. Bob grabbed his GoPro and captured much of what we saw and experienced. All the videos are uploaded to a private YouTube channel. We had three days of diving off the shore of Florida, and can with certainty state it was a great time.

Beach Time

On our way, we made an afternoon stop at the John Pennekamp State Park for some snorkeling, sun, and sand.

Together Again

The four of us converged on Miami late Sunday evening. On Monday morning, the guys employed their excellent packing skills to fit all of their gear along with Christina's bags. One last stop at a grocery store for lunch, and we were off to the Keys.

Where is Christina?

While the Severinghaus guys drove cross-country, I attended a classical conference in Charleston, SC. I was challenged by interesting lectures, reconnected with like-minded thinkers from across the country, and spent time with a precious friend. Wondering the streets of Charleston, scouting out eating places, sipping wine in the room while processing the many ideas presented - an absolutely delightful way to spend a few days in July.
