Happy Birthday, Bob

We celebrated Bob's birthday by attending a play, The Mousetrap, at the local university theater company. We had front row seats in the intimate theater and thoroughly enjoyed the "Whodunit" plot. Noah accurately guessed the murdered by the end of act one. 

The play ran long, but that did not stop us from enjoying birthday cake. When we went to pull out the birthday candles, we realized there were none, so a tea candle had to suffice. The delicious homemade carrot cake made up for the omission

. 

Birthday gifts had to wait; everyone was too tired to stay up. 

What a Difference a Day Make

We are privileged to see Mount Elden from our house. It never ceases to amaze me how much this big stationary object changes. It's like having dynamic artwork - a new scene every day. Everyone is excited about the snow that is finally falling. 

GMOs

Lukas and his partner Tommy debated the benefits of GMO. They had to work both the affirmative and the negative side of the issue and did well both times.

Ski Lessons

Several of our guests had skiing on their bucket lists. We dug through our ski clothes tub and then called on friends to outfit everyone for a day on the slopes. Lukas and Noah drew upon their recent ski lessons to instruct and encourage, and before the morning was over, the bunny hill was abandoned for the 'real' slopes. 

Visitors!

We had dear friends come to visit. They drove over from Las Vegas where they were vacationing to spend a few days with us. It was a joyous reunion. We packed everyone into the car and headed to Grand Canyon. Although it was cold, a bit windy, we enjoyed a hike along the rim, and picnic lunch in the car, before heading back home. We made a short stop in Williams to get a cup of something hot at Brewed Awakening. What a fun day!

It is Dripping....

We were enjoying a quite Sunday afternoon when we noticed an unusual sound in the kitchen. It sounded like water was dripping, yet there were no dripping faucets in the kitchen. There was water, water from the upstairs bathroom where a toilet was continually running. This mishap turns out to be an excellent opportunity for the boys to learn home repairs. Cutting out the wet drywall, rigging up fans to dry out, and then repairing the drywall. Once the hole was covered, it was time to paint. So grateful for a husband who is not only handy but also a great teacher - now the boys know how to do it.

Multipurpose

According to the boys, we have perfected the pizza dough. They are now branching out a bit in the toppings. Lukas wanted to add onions to his pizza. To avoid hurting his eyes, he pulled out his ski goggles. Sure enough, no tears onion. Noah is using the castiron pan for his pizza. It is a fun Friday evening tradition.
