After Dinner Time

Bob painted signs, Lukas worked on his most recent English assignment, and Noah and Christina worked the 3,000 piece puzzle. It is fun to have the whole family gathered in the same area, each involved in a separate activity.

Baking

There are many groups of people who have worked hard through the Covid pandemic. Some labor in the shadows and deserves gratitude and appreciation, just like the local health care and first responder heroes. 

Our church decided to recognize these unsung heroes by bringing them coffee and treats. Our family volunteered to make the pastries. Lukas and Noah spent the day in the kitchen with amazing results. 

Our First Zoom Wedding

Many are the plans that have been curtailed, canceled, or changed. This past weekend, we attended our first Zoom wedding. It was a lovely affair. Even though we were not there in person, we were overjoyed to be able to participate in the celebration. Now, we are making plans for the big 1st-anniversary party next summer, when hopefully we can once again gather in larger groups.

Backyard Remake

Noah has created a comprehensive plan for the backyard. Some of the work happened last summer, and it continues this summer. Since most of our vacation plans have been canceled, he is working hard to complete the vision.

Noah has spent time in the workshop this week cutting the pieces for one more bench. Bob filled a cart at the local nursery so the planters are filling up. Polls at the corner allow for festive lighting. The hard work is paying off!

Even More Home Improvements

Bob and Noah checked one more project off the to-do list this week, adding gutters to the front of the house. This will eliminate the puddles right by the front entrance and probably keep the wood stairs from rotting. I wonder, is there anything Bob cannot fix?

Great Snack

On warm days there are few things as refreshing as shaved iced. Fortunately, we were gifted a shaved ice machine so the cool, thirst-quenching is just a couple of turns away.

Schnebly Hill Encore

Awhile back, we rode down Schnebly Hill in our Honda. It was a slow, treacherous ride with lots of careful contemplation to find the right track through the rocky path.  The pictures can be found in our April 2018 blog.
Noah has for a long time been talking about his desire to bike down Schnebly Hill - still a rocky path, but not as challenging on a bike as in the car.  Christina happily dropped the three guys off at the top of Schnebly Hill, turned around, and used the highway to get to Sedona so that she could meet them at the bottom -nobody was up for biking up the hill. A bit of research indicated that the biking down would take about three hours, about half the time it took us to drive down. However, these three made it down in half the time with at least two long stops! It was a good thing I was not lingering in the stores...
