Kitchen Experiments

With more time on our hands, it is a good time to experiment in the kitchen. Lukas is concocting homemade candy - lemon flavored and apple ginger flavored. He has the recipe down path, now to figure out how to get it out of the pan :-)

New Normal?

We are now asked to wear a mask when we go out. It reminds me of our time in China, where people wearing masks were a common occurrence.

When I am out and about, it is under my glasses. 

It Is That Time

We have optimistically kept our ski clothes close at hand, just in case. However, as the days of shelter in place turn into weeks, the hope of yet one more run is fading. This week, we washed all of the winter clothes and packed them up in the tubs, ready for 20-21 ski season.

While we were out in the garage, Lukas and Noah organized all the tubs and boxes to clear the floor. Now the question is, how long will it take before the garage is overtaken by a new project, meaning no space for the car?

Changing Up the Traditions

Our regular Friday night routine is homemade pizza and a movie. On Friday, we changed it up a little bit and made a Stromboli instead. It is sort of like pizza, so it was not a huge deviation. Maybe Stromboli will find itself on the Friday evening menu again?

Going Through Photos

On the To Do List has been 'going through memory boxes' for a long time. It just never seemed there was enough time to get to it. Now, there is no excuse and Christina is sorting and labeling print photos. About every five minutes, she encounters another cute one of the boys. She could certainly fill this entire blog with old photos - and not doing so, requires lots of constraints. It will be a good feeling once all the photos are marked and put in chronological order. Meanwhile, it has been a wonderful trip down memory lane.

Bargain Shopper

A local grocery store is handing out Monopoly tickets with purchase. Noah has dutifully collected and scanned these for our family. On Sunday, his toil paid off. He had enough tickets for a gift card in the store, and it so happened that Ben and Jerry Ice cream was on sale, AND the store had just received a shipment of ice cream - the previous day there was nothing but plain, generic brand vanilla to be had in town.
Noah picked out four tubs of B&J, and the total was 37 cents. Now we need to get out and exercise more...

We are blessed to live in a beautiful place. That is particularly poignant now that we are asked to stay at home, apart from exercise and necessary shopping. Taking a walk, riding a bike, or running the trail with this view in sight certainly enhances the mood. Marveling at the mountains, it is almost possible to forget Covid-19 and how it is ruling our lives.
