Mother's Day

This was a weekend full of celebrations, right on the heel of graduation it was Mother's Day. Barb sent gorgeous flowers, we went for a fun hike,  and Bob, Lukas, and Noah cooked a delightful meal. Truly a fantastic celebration.

The Day After

So what does a high school senior do the day after graduation? This student woke up early and indulged in some video gaming - something that he has not had much time for.  Then it was on to sewing on his school backpack, specifically designed for his own needs with lots of pockets and special gadgetry. Pictures to come shortly.

High School Graduate

The Sill Academy is proud to present its first high school graduate - Lukas Johann Severinghaus.
We celebrated with a tasty dinner, sparkling drinks, a few cheesy decorations, and some nice and generous gifts.
It is hard to believe that the journey is over. Mama and Dad are so proud of you, Lukas!

Creative Solution

Lukas has long been lamenting the lack of a sewing table. He finally had enough and designed his own using spare foam core board and tape that he had laying around in his scrap pile. No need to search the internet for an attachment to the sewing machine.

Senior Thesis

The final project of his high school career was writing a senior thesis and then defend it in front of three judges. This is of course preferably done in person, but given the current situation, we turned to Zoom. Lukas, dressed in appropriate attire from the waist up, brilliantly defended his thesis and handled questions from the audience with grace. Congratulations, you are now done, Lukas!

Puzzle

There is more time for puzzles right now. This 1000 piece was a joy to put together with Noah. Now if we could only get our hands on some of these heirloom seeds for our garden.

The Big Guns

We recently realized we have had a few extra uninvited guests taking up residence in our pantry. It appeared they favored Hershey's kisses, but their stomachs were too small to finish a kiss, so they became hoarders, just like many in this Covid season.
This was a good impetus to do a deep clean of the pantry, sorting, and organizing our supplies. Fortunately, most of it was already in glass containers and therefore not accessible to our uninvited residents.
Two nights of hunting and it became clear how they entered our home - not by the front door which is how invited guests arrive. The third night the entrance was surrounded. The guests thought it wiser to look for greener pastures elsewhere and did not return.
