Visual Learning
History can be fun, it can be dry, it can be just dates, or it can come alive via great stories, movies or even field trip visits. We have spent this year studying world history in sweeping strokes from 800 AD until present day. Next year we will focus on American history. To help us see the bigger picture, how various events, people and ideas fit together we decided to create a time line on our school room cabinets. The boys set out with blue painters tape and decided that each horizontal line would signify one hundred years. Bob helped the boys place the tape, and in the process tried to tape Noah to the wall - never a dull moment in our house. The very next morning, Lukas and Noah began to put up note cards with events, people and ideas they have learned about throughout our study of world history. This will be a work in progress and I am curious what it will look like in a year....
