Washington DC - it felt as if we were back home. Walking the mall with our two boys reminded me of the many times I pushed a stroller on the gravel walk between Smithsonian museums. This time, the boys hoofed it and were true champs as the temperature reached well into triple digits as the sun beamed straight down on us.
We had in mind to see the American Flag that hung over Ft McHenry on that well known night so long ago, and also explore some of the treasures in the American History museum. However, no trip to DC is complete without a trip to the Air and Space and we spent most of our time looking at planes, planes and more planes.
To cool off we took a brief break at the water fountain in the Sculpture Garden - a welcome respite from the dust and heat of the city. After living in small town USA for so long, this really feels a bit too big for us country bumpkins.
