When we found Lucky at the SPCA, Lukas named her Lucky. She was Lucky to find a family, and he was lucky to find a dog. Lucky has been a special part of our family.
Not until we had adopted her, did we realize just how old she was; yet she has aged gracefully, only looking more sophisticated as her face became greyer and greyer.
We have known for a while that Lucky would not be able to move with us and began to pray in early April for the right situation for her. And God answered our prayer. The last day with Lucky, we gave her a nice bath, brushed her shiny black coat and hugged her extra long.
It was especially hard on the boys to say good bye to "man's best friend," knowing she was going to a great home made the transition a bit easier.
Lucky is lucky once again - she has a sweet new owner, who was looking for exactly this type of dog and Lucky does not have to make the long move cross country to heat and humidity, to bone chills and snow piles. Lucky is a true California dog and we are grateful she can remain here to live out her life.
