Although we are still a few weeks away from the official school start, the science box was beckoning us. The boys pulled out a few supplies and the kitchen turned into a science lab. The success of one experiment hinged on cooler temperatures and Detroit offered us just the right morning cool (50s) that was necessary, so the unusually cold weather turned into a blessing.
Making balloons fit into glass jars became the favorite experiment, and why not, it involved fire. The boys kept thinking of variations to continue their use of fire and flames, and it did not end until we were pretty sure the smoke alarms were about to go off. Success!
