Peach Ice cream

Nothing says Fourth of July as peach ice cream; not ANY peach ice cream but Joy of Cooking old edition version - the ONLY kind of peach ice cream there is, at least if you ask any Severinghaus'. It starts in the morning with the peeling, cutting and smashing of ripe, soft, sweet peaches.
Then the peach mix sits in the fridge, while the cream mixture is blended, finally everything is combined, and then we wait, sometimes patiently, sometimes not, for the ice cream to chill and freeze.
Today, while we waited the boys prepared for summer camp, as they leave tomorrow morning. Despite all the preparations, there were a few last minute items to pick up so after a quick house cleaning session we piled into the car for some shopping.
The last chore of the day was yard work, pulling Trumpet Vines, trimming and mowing and then the boys set out to play.
After rib and salad dinner, we walked to the park for some fire work fun, and then it was FINALLY time to eat peach ice cream. It was as yummy as ever, and there is even some left over for another day.
We read the Declaration of Independence while licking our sticky rib stained fingers.
