We headed out to New Mexico for the first practicum of the season. Google Maps offered up a shorter route, and since our trip was already long, it seemed like a good idea. Until it was no longer a good idea, it might have been shorter, but it was also a lot slower, gravel road at times single lane through the deserted desert landscape. For the hour and a half that we spent traveling down this road, we met one car and had no cell reception at all - fortunately, we had a full tank of gas and lots of snacks.

Taken through the windshield which added an interesting touch |
We eagerly counted down the mile markers, at mile marker 0 could there be an intersection and a larger road for us to travel?
Equally deserted but at least it was paved.
