Hiking

Lukas and Noah set out for two days of hiking on the Arizona Trail. Bob and I offered to set up camp and meet them at night with dinner. This offer was graciously accepted as it meant lighter packs - the water itself took up most of the weight.

Once camp was set up, Bob and I had a wonderful and restful time, reading, napping, and chatting. It was so refreshing to be outside and away from phones and computers. The one bar reception was sufficient for the boys to keep us updated on their whereabouts but nothing more.

Bob cooked a delicious stew for dinner, and everyone crawled into their tents not long after the sun-set.

The next morning, the boys left fortified by bacon and pancakes, with bandages on blisters, and backpacks full of water - it just so happened that Flagstaff almost broke an all-time high-temperature record the week of their hike.

Dirty, tired, and with a few more blisters, Bob picked them up at the end of the day. Showers and lots of cold drinks and all is well.

Since the boys were dogsitting, she had to come with us.

Yes, there were blisters

Is there anything better than bacon for breakfast while camping?

And they are off again
