Bob, Lukas, and Noah accepted the challenge of getting rid of the waterbed. The calculations for the estimated water weight exceeded 3,000 lb, so lifting it out was not an option. Hoses, suction, and hand pumping turned out to be the solution that emptied out the decade-old water. The wood frame proved to be much easier to disassemble, and the room now has a twin bed in it, ready for the next guest.
It is possible that the heating element made it all the way back to Arizona for a future project... but I am not saying it is true.
