The boys and the Swedish Mamma spent two weeks visiting many of the Swedish relatives in May. Lukas' greatest desire was to spend the time at Larsboda, but as the weather was less than hospitable when we arrived the decision was made to remain in Stockholm. Lukas used all his excellent and persuasive linguistic skills, meticulous internet searching and plain begging - but the judges stood firm. Once he realized there was not convincing anyone, he quickly readjusted his expectation and had a fabulous time with all his cousins and never once mentioned the amazing weather that EVERYONE commented on as it was so unusual. He truly was a good sport and handle it well.
The boys spent time with all the cousins, climbed trees, jumped on trampolines (which seemingly comes standard with every Swedish home), hiked in the woods, flew airplanes, played in backyards, provided minor assistance with some minimal yard work, threw countless water balloons, walked through mountainous caves too tight for Mamma's comfort, had sleep overs, ate candy, attended Scout meeting, and sat in on a 4th grade geography lesson, ate more candy, devoured Swedish ice creams, ate more candy and of course had countless delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners alongside cousins, aunts, uncles, parents and grand parents. As we got ready to pack our suitcases and head to the airport we realized that we had all been all too busy to capture most of this on film... not even the family dinner when all of us were together in on location! It could not have been a better family vacation, well, it would have been had Bob been able to join us as well.
