The boys on their way south to Tennesse for some pre-jamboree fun, the truck packed and sealed, the house emptied and cleaned, there was nothing left for us but to head out of town. Dear friends accepted our last remnants of freezer and fridge leftovers and in exchange handed us a goodie bag with car treats. It felt strange to head west, to leave, and to be by ourselves - both of us remarked it felt more like a vacation than a move.
Our first stop, impromptu, was at the Sand Dunes in Indiana, and Bob took one more dip into Lake Michigan - not sure when he will next have this opportunity.
We took advantage of the free time we had and leisurely made our way across the country. Our second stop was Hannibal, MO, Mark Twain's hometown. We enjoyed the sights and local ice cream, searching out shaded areas to keep cool in the 100F+ weather.
