Smoke detectors are great! Providing increased safety, especially since we have a wood-burning stove. However, smoke detectors require batteries, even those that are wired into the electrical system... When the battery is running low, the detector beeps. Whoever decided on the placement for the one in our living room must be the owner of extra tall ladders - not the kinds that most people have in their homes. Bob, being tall, could not reach the smoke detector from our ladder. So the beeps continue, and then they stop, and then they start again... Calling an acquaintance who paints for a living,"can you please come by?"
