Summer Traditions

Celebrating 4th of July is fun! This year, we went to a local park for a town wide barbecue and Color Guard. Riding our bikes there and back allowed us plenty of room for the free ice creams and snow cones.
A Severinghaus tradition is Peach Ice cream for the 4th, so the in the afternoon we pulled out the ice cream maker and mixed up a batch of extra sweet peaches and heavy whipping cream ice cream mixture - since it was filled a bit too full, there was plenty to lick on the sides. A
Although we have always had a flag , we have not had a place to hang it at our new house. Late on the night of the third of July Bob remedied this so we could proudly display it on our nation's birthday.
We also started a new tradition, cherry pit spitting contest. Look closely at the point of the green arrow and you may catch a glimpse of a far flung, squeaky clean cherry pit flying through the air. And although Lukas has style and force, Mamma was the clear winner of this fun game.
