Museum

The Israel Museum gave us an excellent overview of the history of the area and also a visual representation of the development of Jerusalem. Building and sections of the city that we had heard of came to life when put into perspective in the giant outdoor replica. The valleys, the heights of the city, no wonder the Israelites said they were 'going up to Jerusalem.'
The symbolic architecture of the Dead Sea Scroll building reinforced the notion of the Khumrans who stored the scrolls in large ceramic jars — seeing fragments of something that old is truly a privilege. No photographs were allowed inside to protect the documents.
