Happy New Year

We celebrated New Year's Eve with a delicious surf and turf dinner at home before we headed out to see the famous Pine Cone Drop in Flagstaff. The city celebrates both at 10 pm to coincide with the East Coast and 12 midnight. We opted to celebrate at the same time as our East Coast friends. Now we are back home, sipping champagne and watching the best of fireworks from around the world.

Book Organizing

We decided to rearrange part of the upstairs - switching the current office/library and bedroom. As we had to take all the books off the shelves in order to move the bookcases, we decided to get organized and scanned all of them. Now we finally have a listing of all the books, maybe it will eliminate future duplicate purchases?

Driving West

All good things must come to an end - Chaucer. We have had a wonderful time in Missouri visiting friends and family, feasting on food and wine, and celebrating the birth of our Savior. It is now time to head back home, to unpack the car, do a few loads of laundry, and settle back into the routine, so that we can begin to plan our next adventure and Missouri visit.

Gas prices like this make for happy travelers and it was a joy to see the Arizona sign after many hours in the car.

Just 30 minutes out from Flagstaff is the Meteor Crater and we decided to make one final stop on our cross-country trip. It was a hole well worth seeing!

Heading Back to Carl Junction

This is the car company on the way back to Carl Junction. Worn. Out.

Sunrise over the Mississippi

Lukas wanted to try out his new drone and thought to film the sunrise over the Mississippi something he could not resist. He recruited his good friend along with the Mamas to join him on this arctic chilly adventure. We were gullible enough to not joining him once but twice! The first morning, the temperature was 4 degrees, the second morning it was a balmy 11.

Good Friends

We spent two days with good friends in St Louis. Since it was really cold outside, the boys happily spent most of the time in the basement with all their electronic equipment. Their friends brought an equal amount, we could earnestly compete with Best Buy with all that gear.
So that we could say we had been in St Louis, we did venture out to the City Museum.  On our way out of town, we introduced our friends to Gus Pretzels.
It was a wonderful time spent with good friends.

St Louis Here We Come

The day after Christmas, the boys and Christina headed to St Louis to visit friends. On our way, we were enticed by the signs for the "World's Largest Gift Store" Noah who has new glasses noted the small asterisk that stated, "for a town our size." Marketing at its best!

Cousin Play

When the formal festivities had concluded, the cousins retired to the basement for a game of Settlers of Catan. Scott won the game, and Jason kindly drove the boys back to Grammy's house.

Christmas Dinner and More Gifts

Lisa hosted the Christmas dinner meal. It was a delightful affair filled with tasty food, delicious wines, and great laughter. After dinner, it was time to open more gifts. Anyone who left hungry had only himself to blame - it was a fantastic feast.

Christmas Morning

We had a leisurely Christmas morning, opening stockings, drinking hot beverages, enjoying delicious food, and opening more gifts. Before we knew it, it was time for a mid-afternoon nap before the Christmas dinner.
