Noah took up knitting this weekend - he wants to make a very soft scarf to keep him warm when it is cold. He had carefully selected the yarn for softness and color. It did not take long for him to get a hang of knitting, especially after it was likened to tying rope and knots.

Polar Bear
While Mamma and Noah stayed warm, Lukas and Bob headed out for a weekend of backpacking/hiking/camping with the Boy Scouts. The temperature that had hovered around the freezing mark, took a sharp nosedive just in time to load the car and head out.
They hiked 10 miles over two days, most of the hiking was done in Saturday, which meant we were back as a foursome family just in time for lunch and well deserved Sunday afternoon naps. Hot showers, warm clothes and Bob and Lukas brought the body temperature up and Lukas was very happy with his accomplishment.

Double booked
This past weekend, we were double booked. Lukas had an overnight camping/back packing event, Noah had a Webelos event at a local museum and both boys had a robotics competition information meeting. What to do? Divide and conquer!
Noah and Mamma headed out armed with paper and pens to take notes at the robotics meeting before continuing on to Cranbrook Institute of Science for a full afternoon of activities.

Christmas treats
We recently discovered a fun specialty store not too far from our house - and a walk through the store inspired us to head home and start creating our own sweets and treats. Lukas and Noah has spent a few days on and off, stirring, tasting, mixing, tasting, pouring, tasting, piping, tasting, packaging and did I mention tasting? Some of you may find some of these treats in your stocking :-)

Our Webelos
At the monthly Pack meeting, Noah was awarded several pins, belt loops and badges for his participation in Cub Scout activities.
Christmas decorations
One question that every new house forces us to face is - Where to put the Christmas tree? Since we are spending Christmas with family, it seemed not too important to put up a tree; hence we could put off answering this 'burning' question. We all agreed that Sunday after Thanksgiving would be our decorating day.
Friday evening, new fun friends drove hours to come and visit us and join us for a simple supper. We had a great time and guess what they brought? Yes, a little table tree, so now we do have a Christmas tree!
The boys helped pull in all the Christmas decoration boxes, and we set out to decorate the house with a few things. The CD player is spinning Christmas music and the candles are lit,and the new It was the Night Before Christmas Advent Calendar has a prominent spot on the coffee table. Even our front door is looking festive with the gorgeous fresh greenery wreath gifted to us.
