It became an early morning departure on move-in day as we needed to make a stop to outfit Noah for the upcoming wedding. With the help of a knowledgeable salesperson, Noah selected and had fitted a nice navy suit. To what occasions will Noah wear this in the next few years?
Noah moved into his dorm room on Friday. So back to Phoenix, we went, with a carload of Noah's things. He got sound advice from his brother to ensure he had what he needed, and he had a croissant for breakfast.
Noah noted the large block of fancy butter in the fridge. Rather than risking it going bad while he is at school, he set out to make one more batch of croissants. He has pretty much mastered this art.
Lukas had an early move-in day so that he could help welcome incoming freshmen to the campus. We were fortunate and blessed that one of his friends and parents helped us haul all of Lukas' things up to his room. It made move-in fast, especially since the elevators worked this time.
Back in Flagstaff, all four of us got into preparation mode. There were things to complete, boxes to be packed, and last-minute items to be procured in anticipation of move-in day on Poly and Tempe.
We left Miami Beach behind for West Virginia and counseling training. Since you cannot "get there from here," we flew in and out of Columbus, OH, where we enjoyed good authentic German food and browsed an amazing bookstore.
While the boys drove the car back to Flagstaff, Bob and I spent a few days in Miami Beach. We slept late, lounged by the pool, enjoyed the beach and warm Atlantic water, ate amazing meals, read books, and enjoyed each other's company. This was the proper way to kick off this new season in our lives, with no more children at home.
