Christmas #1

Since we are celebrating Christmas with family in MO, we decided not to bring our own family gifts with us, but rather have a MI Christmas celebration as well. The packages have been piling up in corners of the house, and empty wrapping paper rolls and tape dispensers are scattered around the house as each person wrapped specially selected gifts. Boxes arrived from dear friends and Mamma brought gifts back from Sweden - the pile was too high to ignore, and only great self discipline kept the boys from shaking and touching. The UPS man on the other hand has never received more cheerful greetings than these two boys who gleefully raced to the door for yet another box...
Thursday evening would be the night for gifts and Christmas cheer. Bob had to work, and the boys were so excited for him to come home and eat quickly - no time like the present to open presents was their motto. Since it was indeed our Christmas celebration, the boys donned the appropriate attire - Christmas pjs.
We poured egg nog in fancy glasses and placed a platter of Christmas cookies and sweets on the table - and the unwrapping began. Their were laughs, cheers and shrieks of delight as each gift was ripped open - no thought to the possibility of re-using wrapping paper or bows.
Lukas learned the hard way that what looks like something longed for can be something completely different, size is not always a good indicator of the inside gift. We all giggled as Lukas unwrapped his special box of, no not Arduino parts, but raisins!

Thank you to all who send us Christmas cheer from afar -we are truly blessed!
