Lukas has participated in several piano recitals, and even played at our church, yet this week he had a unique chance to play outdoors. As much of the country is hidden under a blanket of snow, Monterey is showing off its temperate weather, blue sky and sunshine.
The local symphony orchestra rescued several pianos destined for the dump, had them painted and tuned and place these large instruments at various places on the Peninsula, and then invited the public to play. Lukas inspected the baby grand and sat down to play from memory. He and his brother thought the inside was worthy of an extra look - the gold painted wood made it glimmer in the sunshine.
Was a move not in our close future, Lukas may have lobbied harder for taking this piece home - it was free for the taking and hauling after the two week event.
